Baker Hughes launches GuardVibe

Energy technology company Baker Hughes announced Thursday the commercial launch of its GuardVibe™ torsional vibration dampener, introducing an innovative solution designed to address the persistent challenge of high-frequency torsional drill string vibrations in oil and gas drilling operations. The new technology promises to extend bottom hole assembly (BHA) service life while reducing capital costs and minimizing unplanned downtime for operators. The GuardVibe system distinguishes itself from conventional vibration mitigation technologies through its unique approach to torsional vibration management. Rather than focusing on traditional bit-induced stick-slip management methods, the technology employs internal inertia mass to actively counteract torsional vibrations. This field-proven design eliminates the mechanical and electrical failure mechanisms that have historically plagued existing solutions, addressing long-standing reliability concerns in the drilling industry... > read more
