Ashtead Technology Partnership

International subsea equipment rental and solutions specialist Ashtead Technology has entered into a global partnership with Whitecap Scientific Corporation, developers of ROV3D Recon. ROV3D Recon is a ‘plug and play’ computer vision solution that transforms subsea video collected by remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) into real-time 3D data. ROV3D Recon allows any ROV with two cameras to generate real-time 3D models of structures and assets. By seamlessly adding 3D scanning capabilities to routine ROV operations, subsea integrity teams get access to data that improves situational awareness for more informed decision making about a wide range of subsea tasks and projects. Under the deal, Ashtead Technology will have exclusive access to ROV3D Recon for the offshore rental market. Through Ashtead Technology... > read more

Regulator Rejects Enbridge Plan

The Canada Energy Regulator has rejected Enbridge Inc’s plan to sell nearly all space on its Mainline oil pipeline under long-term contracts, rather than rationing it on a monthly basis. The regulator (CER) said in a written ruling that the change would have dramatically changed how shippers gain access to the 70-year-old Mainline, benefiting some with contracts while hurting others who lack them. “Overall, Western Canadian oil producers could suffer too many negative consequences,” the CER said. A new proposed framework for setting tolls to move oil would also “excessively favor” those with contracts, the regulator said. Enbridge planned to sell 90 percent of space under long-term contracts on the 3 million barrel per day Mainline, Canada’s longest oil pipeline system, which moves oil from Western Canada to refineries in Eastern Canada and the US Midwest. Enbridge applied for the change in 2019 when demand for the Mainline greatly exceeded... > read more

Capital Power And Enbridge Collaborate

Capital Power Corp and Enbridge Inc have announced a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on carbon capture and storage (CCS) solutions in the Wabamun area west of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, near Capital Power's Genesee Generating Station. Enbridge and Capital Power have agreed to jointly evaluate and advance a CCS project, with Enbridge as the transportation and storage service provider and Capital Power as the CO2 provider, subject to the Government of Alberta's competitive carbon hub selection process and a future Final Investment Decision (FID). Enbridge, with the support of Capital Power, is applying to develop an open-access carbon hub in the Wabamun area through the government of Alberta's Request for Full Project Proposals process, which is expected to start as early as December 2021... > read more

McDermott’s LNG Study For Shell

EPC provider McDermott has completed a liquefied natural gas (LNG) construction study identifying tangible reduction pathways toward net-zero construction emissions on behalf of Shell Global Solutions International BV. The results of this study provide a strategic framework for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in LNG facilities during the project execution phase. “Operators continue to seek actionable plans to advance their commitments to net-zero emissions by 2050,” said Samik Mukherjee, executive VP and CEO. He added: “Leveraging our unique LNG and modularisation expertise, McDermott has developed multiple, innovative pathways to reduce and/or eliminate emissions throughout the lifecycle of an LNG facility. We believe, in future scenarios, up to 65 percent of emissions associated with construction can be eliminated through a combination of construction execution efficiency, modularization and targeted investment... > read more

Chevron and Enterprise’s New Framework

Chevron USA Inc, through its new Chevron New Energies Division, and a subsidiary of Enterprise Products Partners LP recently established a framework to study and evaluate opportunities for CO2 capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) from their respective business operations in the US Midcontinent and Gulf Coast. The companies expect the initial phase of the study in which they will evaluate specific business opportunities to last about six months. The companies have successfully worked together on prior business opportunities and believe they bring complementary capabilities to successfully pursue CCUS. Projects resulting from the evaluation would seek to combine Enterprise’s extensive midstream pipeline and storage network with Chevron’s... > read more
