Pemex To Spud Well Offshore Mexico

Mexico’s national hydrocarbons commission CNH has approved plans submitted by state-owned company Pemex to run a shallow-water exploration campaign in the promising Sureste basin and in the vicinity of a cluster of fields being developed by Italian major Eni. Pemex is looking to spud the Popoca-1EXP well in the AE-0149-M-Uchukil assignment in mid-June using the Seadrill jack-up drilling rig West Oberon, which is chartered until October 2025. The 221-day program will take place in 31 meters of water and will target unrisked resources... > read more

Devon Energy’s New Mine Will Save $200k

Devon Energy Corp, one of the biggest oil explorers in the Permian Basin, is getting into the sand business to combat rising costs. The Oklahoma City-based company told investors of a new, so-called mobile frack-sand mine it launched on 15,000 acres of land it owns in the West Texas county of Loving. The mine is expected to save the shale giant more than $200,000 per well amid rising sand prices and can account for as much as a quarter of its sand needs in the Delaware half of the Permian Basin, COO Clay Gaspar said Tuesday on a conference call. “Sand is one of those things that nobody worries about until it’s an issue, and then it’s a major major issue,” Gaspar said. Mobile sand mines are starting to slowly grow within the industry, offering a smaller footprint compared to permanent mines and are closer to the well site... > read more

SPM Oil & Gas Introduces New Frac Iron System

SPM Oil & Gas, an upstream provider of pressure pumping and pressure control equipment and services, announced an innovation to enhance the hydraulic fracturing process: the new, more streamlined SPM™ Simplified Frac Iron System. The reimagined, field proven Simplified Frac Iron System transforms the typically disjointed process inherent with conventional ground iron. Traditional frac operations involve hundreds of moving parts and small-bore iron strings to manage extremely high pressures. Such a complex arrangement creates substantial nonproductive time (NPT) due to lengthy set up, assembly and connection requirements. Additionally, every connection represents a potential leak path and must be checked continuously. SPM Oil & Gas was a pioneer of the simplified frac iron concept, and its innovative, continuously evolving design has proven superior in the field. The newly enhanced SPM Simplified Frac Iron System... > read more

Liberty Oilfield Posts Best Sales in Years

Liberty Oilfield Services Inc posted its best quarterly sales since going public more than four years ago as the global energy crisis spurs a boom in demand for fracking. The second-biggest provider of frack work in the US shale sector rose 9.8 percent to $19.15 at 10:53 am in New York after earlier climbing as much as 15 percent for its biggest intraday gain since November 2020. The Denver-based contractor reported first-quarter revenue of $793 million late Wednesday, exceeding analysts’ forecasts, according to Bloomberg data. Oilfield-service providers are in turnaround mode after two straight years of cratering oil prices and widespread job cuts. Now, explorers are reaping record cash flow while the hired hands of the oil patch work through supply-chain snarls and look to pass on higher costs to clients. “North America is well positioned to be the largest provider of incremental oil and gas supply to power the global economy,” CEO Chris Wright told analysts and investors during a conference call. “We need to see and we will work to drive healthy returns in the frack industry to match the already robust returns of our customers.” > read more
