EPA honors five Marathon Petroleum refineries

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has recognised five Marathon Petroleum Corporation refineries as some of the most energy efficient facilities in the country. The refineries in Anacortes, Washington; Canton, Ohio; Garyville, Louisiana; Robinson, Illinois; and St. Paul Park, Minnesota, have received 2023 ENERGY STAR certifications from the EPA, placing them in the top 25 percent of similar facilities nationwide. The certification process for these refineries involves achieving energy efficiency that surpasses 75 percent of comparable facilities based on the Solomon Energy Intensity Index™ and maintaining a strong record of environmental compliance. Enchanted Rock and U.S. Energy Partner

Enchanted Rock, the leading provider of electrical resiliency microgrids, and U.S. Energy, a vertically integrated energy solutions provider proficient in refined products, alternative fuels, and environmental credits, announced a partnership to procure renewable natural gas (RNG) for Microsoft’s new data center in San Jose during grid outages and when California’s Base Interruptible Power (BIP) is activated. LyondellBasell to build industrial-scale plant

LyondellBasell have announced it has made the final investment decision to build the company's first industrial-scale catalytic advanced recycling demonstration plant at its Wesseling, Germany, site. Using LyondellBasell's proprietary MoReTec technology, this plant will be the first commercial scale, single-train advanced recycling plant to convert post-consumer plastic waste into feedstock for production of new plastic materials that can be ran at net zero GHG emissions. The new plant is expected to have an annual capacity of 50,000 tonnes per year and is designed to recycle the amount of plastic packaging waste generated by over 1.2 million German citizens per year. Construction is planned to be completed by the end of 2025.
