Read Time: 2 mins

WildFire Energy I LLC  announced a definitive agreement to acquire approximately 237,000 net acres and interests in 465 wells in the East Texas Eagle Ford from Apache Corporation and its subsidiaries. This acquisition significantly enhances WildFire’s operational footprint, bringing its total to over 2,000 gross wells on more than 850,000 net acres across the eastern Eagle Ford, spanning Fayette, Bastrop, Lee, Austin, Washington, Burleson, Brazos, Milam, Robertson, Madison, and Grimes counties in Texas. WildFire’s portfolio also includes approximately 550,000 net acres prospective for the Austin Chalk, as well as acreage in the Woodbine, Buda, and Georgetown formations.

In Q1 2024, the newly acquired Apache assets averaged a net daily production of approximately 11,000 barrels of oil equivalent, with liquids comprising 67 percent of this production. As of December 31, 2023, WildFire estimates unaudited net proved reserves from these assets to be approximately 40 million barrels of oil equivalent . Following the acquisition, WildFire’s pro forma net daily production will exceed 50,000 barrels of oil equivalent, with 85 percent of this production being liquids.

This acquisition follows WildFire’s previous purchase of Chesapeake Energy Corporation’s Brazos Valley region assets in the eastern Eagle Ford in March 2023. These strategic acquisitions enable WildFire to leverage its existing infrastructure and scale in the region. WildFire’s consolidation efforts began with the acquisitions of MD America Energy, LLC in March 2022 and Hawkwood Energy, LLC in August 2021, establishing a robust presence in the eastern Eagle Ford basin.

Steve Habachy, president and chief operating officer of WildFire, stated, “This acquisition of adjacent assets presented us with a strategic opportunity to continue consolidating the basin. With a total of more than 850,000 net acres, we have built a premier contiguous asset base, making WildFire the largest operator in the entire Eagle Ford trend.”

The strategic acquisition reinforces WildFire’s commitment to expanding its operations and consolidating its position as a leading operator in the Eagle Ford trend, driving growth and efficiency across its extensive asset base.
