Stolt-Nielsen, a global leader in liquid logistics and land-based aquaculture, has announced a series of ongoing investments aimed at expanding and enhancing its operations across the United States. These initiatives form part of the company’s long-standing commitment to strengthening its service capabilities and driving innovation across key regions.
With a well-established presence in the United States, Stolt-Nielsen operates facilities in Houston and New Orleans, employing more than 450 people. To further develop its infrastructure, Stolthaven Terminals has invested over 200 million US dollars since 2019 across various terminal operations. This includes the construction of a new jetty in Houston, significant upgrades to existing assets, and the addition of 32,000 cbm of tank capacity in New Orleans.

Looking ahead, additional projects are set to increase total investment by a further 200 million US dollars in the coming years. These projects include the construction of more than 150,000 cbm of new tank capacity at Stolthaven Terminals’ sites in Houston and New Orleans, further strengthening the company’s logistics network.
Stolt Tank Containers is also expanding its capabilities with the construction of a new cleaning facility in Houston. This facility, which will feature an onsite wastewater treatment plant, is designed to enable the reuse of 70 percent of the water from cleaning processes. Expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2025, the facility aims to set a new global benchmark for ISO tank cleaning. These investments are intended to enhance service offerings, improve operational efficiency, streamline supply chains, and integrate new state-of-the-art technologies.
As part of its broader strategic expansion, Stolt-Nielsen is also launching CleanRight, an innovative cleaning company that builds on its long-standing expertise in chemical parcel tanker, barge, rail car, ISO container, and storage tank cleaning. CleanRight will provide a value-added service within the company’s liquid logistics portfolio. Operating in Houston and New Orleans, the company’s cleaning solutions will be supported by a hazardous wastewater treatment facility, reinforcing Stolt-Nielsen’s environmental commitments while maintaining the highest safety and efficiency standards.
In addition to its investments in liquid logistics, Stolt-Nielsen’s seafood division, Stolt Sea Farm, is preparing to expand into the United States. The division is actively exploring potential sites for the introduction of its Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) farming technology, a sustainable method designed to meet the growing demand for responsibly farmed seafood.
Commenting on these developments, Udo Lange, CEO of Stolt-Nielsen, stated: “These investments reflect the company’s ongoing commitment to providing world-class innovative solutions for customers. Stolt-Nielsen is excited to bring advancements in liquid logistics and sustainable seafood to the US market.”
