GMA Garnet introduces GMA ToughBlast™️

Read Time: 2 mins

The recent event focusing on ‘Sustainable Practices for Surface Preparation in the Maritime, Shipbuilding, and Oil & Gas sectors’ was a resounding success, thanks to the insightful session led by our CEO, Grant Cox, and Pete Mitchell, VP New Market Development & Technical Management.

The event, held in collaboration with the AMPP Dhahran Saudi Arabia Chapter in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia, brought together prominent contractors, project managers, asset owners, and HSE experts from the maritime, shipbuilding, and oil & gas industries.

One of the key highlights of the event was the introduction of GMA ToughBlast™️, our specially engineered blend designed for the most challenging coating removal jobs, to the Saudi market. This unique blend of alluvial and hard rock garnet has been optimized to deliver exceptional blasting performance, particularly in industrial maintenance applications for shipyards, refineries, and tank farms.

During the seminar, the importance of surface cleanliness was emphasized, along with the impact of different abrasives on achieving it. Pete Mitchell’s technical insights shed light on the intricate connection between the choice of abrasive, the quality of the metal surface, and the lifespan of the coating. He also highlighted the role of abrasive size in meeting surface preparation specifications.

Soni John, General Manager Middle East & Garnet Arabia Company, expressed sincere gratitude to all participants and the AMPP Dhahran chapter for their active engagement. She expressed genuine excitement about the prospects of ongoing collaboration with key industry partners in the region, recognizing the value of such partnerships in driving sustainable practices and innovation in surface preparation.
