Excelerate Energy, Inc. and QatarEnergy have announced the signing of a 15-year liquefied natural gas Sale and Purchase agreement. Under this agreement, Excelerate will purchase up to 1.0 million tons per annum of LNG from QatarEnergy on a delivered ex-ship basis in Bangladesh, starting from January 2026. The purchase volume will be 0.85 MTPA in 2026 and 2027, and 1.0 MTPA from 2028 to 2040.
This agreement marks a significant milestone in the collaboration between Excelerate and QatarEnergy. Excelerate is the world’s largest LNG supplier, delivering approximately 10 percent of Qatar’s annual LNG production through its Floating Storage and Regasification Units. By unlocking new demand in the markets where they operate, Excelerate is strengthening its partnership with QatarEnergy.
Steven Kobos, President and CEO of Excelerate, expressed his satisfaction with the long-term supply agreement, stating that it demonstrates Excelerate’s ability to secure critical and affordable LNG volumes for their customers. As natural gas demand increases, this agreement will provide stable and long-term economic benefits to Excelerate’s existing infrastructure.
His Excellency Mr. Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, the Minister of State for Energy Affairs and the President and CEO of QatarEnergy, also commented on the agreement. He expressed his pleasure in signing the agreement with Excelerate and highlighted the support it would provide to the energy requirements of Bangladesh. This agreement not only strengthens the relationship between QatarEnergy and Excelerate but also contributes to Bangladesh’s economic development.
