CMS Corporation, a renowned global construction contractor specializing in projects for the Department of Defense (DoD), has announced its successful bid for two projects in 2024. These projects will be carried out at Kadena AB, Okinawa, Japan, and Misawa Air Base (AB), Japan, and were secured under CMS’s Air Force Worldwide Engineering and Construction (WE&C) prime contract.
The first project, valued at $7.8 million, involves the modernization and repair of the hydrant fueling control system at Kadena AB. CMS will undertake the repair of flow controls, pressure relief systems, and associated piping, valves, and connections. In addition, significant re-piping work will be done at the filtration pad, threaded piping components will be replaced, the existing R-12 HHT checkout stand will be modernized, and necessary coatings will be applied.

Under the second project, which amounts to $1.9 million, CMS will carry out various repairs to the fuel system at Misawa AB. This includes repairing fuel components at Tank Farms 1 and 2, a truck offload facility, Type III and IV hydrant systems, as well as the North and South Service Stations. The scope of work may involve pipeline coatings, installing emergency fuel shutoffs, redundant relief headers, emergency vents and ladders, and repairing pipe supports, breaker panel EFSO switches, sidewalks, and curbs.
Expressing his satisfaction, CMS Chairman and CEO, Ernest Enrique, emphasized the company’s commitment to expanding its presence in Japan through these projects. He highlighted CMS’s robust global fuels program, which serves not only the Air Force but also other DoD agencies and private-sector clients. Enrique further stated that CMS would continue to demonstrate its award-winning safety and quality standards, as well as its ability to deliver projects on time.
