Chevron Phillips Chemical receives 8 annual AFPM safety awards

Chevron Phillips Chemical has received eight annual safety awards from American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) for 2021 performance. Notably, the Borger plant received AFPM’s Gold Safety Award, bestowed upon the top 5% of the industry’s safety performers. Further, the Alamo (Conroe) site garnered once again the AFPM’s Elite Silver Safety Award, presented to the top 10% of U.S. refining and petrochemical plants based on personal and process safety results.

Six company locations also earned AFPM’s Safety Achievement Award in recognition of their overall safety record:

Bartlesville Research and Technology Center
Borger plant
Alamo (Conroe) plant
Orange plant
Port Arthur plant
Pasadena Plastics Complex

These awards advance Chevron Phillips Chemical’s long history of operational excellence. The company retains a strong safety record among peer member companies for combined employee and contractor recordable incidence rates, based on available data reported by the American Chemistry Council’s Responsible Care program. The company also is active in the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Program (VPP), with all 18 wholly-owned U.S. facilities designated as OSHA VPP Star Sites.
