Bunker One announces that all their physical activities in North America, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Caribbean will be consolidated under Managing Director Georgia Kounalakis. A consolidation that will strengthen Bunker One’s focus on continuous growth and operational excellence.

In recent years, Bunker One has expanded its global footprint and established a highly reliable physical supply in strategic locations across the globe. Having reached a considerable size and achieved a proven track record, Bunker One is ready to accelerate its growth strategy and focus on expanding its footprint.

Georgia Kounalakis shares Bunker One’s ambition to grow its operational and commercial footprint. Since 2021, she has been one of the prime forces behind the streamlining of Bunker One’s North American operations and the interrelationship of the entire supply chain. Georgia Kounalakis will assume responsibility for all Synergy Supply and Trading activities and head Bunker One’s entire physical portfolio and cargo-related activities in the aforementioned regions. In addition, she ambitiously positioned Bunker One as a strong and capable partner in the green transition.

“I am very excited to be taking on new areas of responsibility and grateful for the trust being passed onto me. During the past years, Bunker One has been on an impressive journey, increasing our global physical presence and establishing new partnerships. I see it as my foremost responsibility to help maintain these important partnerships and contribute to expanding Bunker One’s operations to new strategic locations and new partnerships, especially with a focus on the green transition,” says Georgia Kounalakis.

Georgia Kounalakis joined Bunker One in 2018, successfully managing the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean operations. She has over 20 years of experience in marine fuel supply and logistics and a proven track record in managing, building, and maintaining not only client relations but also operational and supply chain excellence and efficiency.

“I am very pleased that Georgia has accepted these new challenges. Since she joined Bunker One in 2018, she has excelled in her role as Managing Director. Georgia has demonstrated strong, proven competencies and has exactly what it takes to undertake Bunker One’s ambitions in our continuous growth journey. Bunker One has developed an impressive footprint in North America, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Caribbean. By being one of the biggest independent suppliers in the region, we are fully aware of the important role that we have today and in the future involving the green transition of the shipping industry – and for that, we have the best people,” says Peter Zachariassen, CEO of Bunker One.
