ABL to support Salamanca Deepwater project

Read Time: 2 mins

Energy and marine consultancy ABL has secured a contract from LLOG Exploration to deliver marine warranty survey services for the subsea development of the Salamanca development project in the Gulf of Mexico.

The Salamanca development project aims to develop the Leon and Castille oil fields in water depths ranging from 1,800 to 2,000 meters. The subsea aspect of the project includes installing three infield subsea pipeline systems and designing and fabricating subsea structures. These pipelines will connect the wellsite to the Salamanca floating production facility.

Under the agreement, ABL will conduct technical document review and approval of critical project procedures, drawings, and documentation. They will also perform suitability inspections of the proposed fleet for subsea operations. Additionally, ABL will provide on-site attendances to review and approve transportation and mobilisation operations of project assets.

David Ballands, director energy services for the Americas at ABL, expressed enthusiasm about supporting LLOG as MWS on the Salamanca subsea development. Leveraging their extensive MWS experience in the Gulf of Mexico and multidisciplinary marine and engineering expertise in Houston, ABL aims to ensure safe and efficient transportation and installation of subsea equipment.

The project will be managed and resourced by ABL’s office in Houston, USA, with the support of their extensive marine surveyor network around the Gulf of Mexico. The ABL team is set to commence its involvement in the first quarter of 2024.

ABL, part of Oslo-listed ABL Group ASA, operates as an independent energy and marine consultancy group serving global renewables, maritime, and oil and gas sectors. ABL’s operations in the USA are based out of Houston, New York, Fort Lauderdale, Boston, and Seattle.
