Read Time: 2 mins

Headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska, Green Plains is one of the largest ethanol producers in the United States, with a production capacity of 1 billion gallons of low-carbon biofuels. As a leading ag-tech company, Green Plains is committed to driving efficiency and sustainability in biofuel production.

In 2024, Green Plains partnered with Dearman Systems to replace its metering and measurement software across all 12 sites. The transition was completed in under a year, ensuring a seamless switch while enhancing operational efficiencies through additional functionality.

According to Brandon Ross, transportation manager at Green Plains Trade Group, Dearman was recommended by industry peers in the bulk agricultural liquids sector. The software has improved security during loadout operations, implementing set sequences and security checks for operators and carriers. Additionally, Green Plains has benefited from faster response times from Dearman’s customer service and development teams, compared to its previous system.

Through Dearman’s terminal automation system, Green Plains now has enhanced loading control, access management, measurement, and reporting capabilities. The UNITY platform aggregates real-time data from all sites and integrates seamlessly with Allegro, Green Plains’ enterprise resource planning system.

Key Benefits of Dearman Systems for Green Plains:

  • Security & Compliance: Loadout operations are more secure with structured sequences and safety checks.
  • Efficiency & Accuracy: The Orders module, used for 90 percent of daily operations, delivers improved speed and accuracy.
  • Seamless Integration: 12 sites utilise metering software, TAS, and UNITY, all feeding directly into Allegro ERP.
  • Responsive Support: The Dearman team provides quick issue resolution and continuous improvement.

By implementing Dearman’s automation solutions, Green Plains has streamlined ethanol logistics at scale, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and operational excellence in the biofuels industry.
