Port of Brownsville receives grant

The Port of Brownsville’s Cargo Dock 3 reconstruction project has secured an $11.5 million grant under the Texas Department of Transportation’s new Maritime Infrastructure Program. On Sept. 28, the Texas Transportation Commission approved a historic $240 million in funding for Texas ports to help increase trade, improve safety, and provide a more robust supply chain for the state and the nation. Marathon implements Topsoe Technology

Marathon Petroleum's former refinery in Martinez, California has been transformed into the Martinez Renewable Fuels Facility, which produces renewable diesel in collaboration with Neste. The facility, which operates with a current capacity of 260 million gallons per year, utilises Topsoe's HydroFlexTM technology to convert bio-feedstock into renewable diesel. Topsoe, a leading provider of carbon emission reduction technologies, was selected by Marathon Petroleum as the technology provider for renewable fuels production at the Martinez facility. Cuda Purchase Increases COPL’s Reserves

Shares in Canadian Overseas Petroleum Ltd (COPL) surged on Monday, September 12, after the company reported a ‘material’ increase to its oil and gas reserves. Shares in the London-based oil and gas exploration and development company focused on Wyoming were trading 6.2 percent higher at 15.61 pence per share in London on Monday morning. Canadian Overseas received a reserve report prepared by Ryder Scott Company LP to reflect the addition of Cuda Energy LLC assets. Canadian Overseas acquired Cuda in July 2022. Net working interest total proved reserves were reported at 17.3 million barrels of oil equivalent in July 2022, up from 11.7 million boe in December 2021, an increase of 47 percent. Proved plus probable assets increased 39 percent to 31.3 million boe from 22.6 million boe over the same period. Ecochlor and Sinotech Sign MoU

Ecochlor and Sinotech have made a new agreement to advance long-term sales, marketing and technical assistance and to foster mutual maritime relationships worldwide, according to a Sinotech press release. The recent signing of a Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement, in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), has formalised the alliance between Ecochlor, Inc (US) and Sinotech (US), and CCS Co (China) in sales, marketing, after-sales support and technical assistance in engineering for the Sinotech carbon capture and storage (CCS) unit. CCS is the process of capturing and storing CO2 before it is released into the atmosphere. This technology can capture up to 90 percent of the CO2 released by fossil fuels and is a useful tool in helping shipowners to meet the increasingly strict limits on greenhouse gas emissions from ships. New Baker Hughes Singapore Facility

Baker Hughes, an energy technology company, is expanding its presence in Asia by opening a new oilfield services chemicals manufacturing facility in Singapore, enabling manufacturing optimization and faster delivery of fit-for-purpose chemical solutions. The facility, which spans approximately 40,000 square meters, will manufacture, store and distribute chemical solutions for upstream, midstream, downstream and adjacent industries to support regional customers and boost Baker Hughes’ localization efforts.
