Scott Glaeser has joined Burns & McDonnell, where he will start up and lead a pipeline integrity practice within the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Group.
Over a career spanning nearly 35 years, Glaeser has served in a number of officer roles at a large Midwestern utility, where he had wide-ranging responsibilities for natural gas operations.

The majority of pipeline integrity work is undertaken to comply with prescriptive state and federal regulatory requirements, Book says.
“Our opportunity is to help gas utilities and transmission companies leverage that necessary effort beyond compliance by optimizing how they manage their transmission, distribution and storage assets,” Book says.
“This requires a deep understanding of pipeline integrity but also operations, construction and asset management. It’s a complex undertaking and Scott’s team will integrate those capabilities and delivers value to our clients.”
Glaeser brings a background in natural gas utility systems including transmission and storage, system operations, regulatory compliance, pipeline integrity, pipeline safety, gas supply, maintenance, construction, and business development.
He started his career in the steel industry, focused on energy systems within an integrated steel mill complex before moving to the gas utility industry during the early phases of deregulation by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
He worked at a large Midwestern combined electric/gas utility for 25 years, where he led natural gas operations. During a period of rapid growth through acquisitions, Glaeser moved up through positions of increasing responsibility, ultimately becoming vice president of gas operations and development.
He also spent several years working for a Houston-based pipeline engineering and services firm focused on pipeline integrity and engineering projects for gas utilities and interstate pipelines in the Midwest. A mechanical engineer, Glaeser has served in a number of industry leadership positions, including several years as a leadership council member for the American Gas Association.
